Categories
The classic with categories in the target language – practises vocabulary against the clock. In France it is called “Le petit bac”, in Latin America “Basta”.
How to play
- 1
Each student draws a table with four to six categories, e.g. animal, food, country, verb.
- 2
A letter is chosen.
- 3
Everyone fills in the row with words in the target language starting with that letter.
- 4
The first to finish shouts “Stop!” – correct words score 10 points, duplicates 5.
Variations
- Unit categories: only categories from the current topic.
- With articles: nouns only count with the correct article.
Tip
Simply skip difficult letters such as Q, X or Y.
