New: card box

The flashcard box – now digital

The proven Leitner system for vocabulary: what you know moves to the back, what hasn’t stuck comes up more often. Lenguvo sorts the cards for you and shows you each day which ones are due.

Spaced repetition: you review every word at growing intervals – after 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks and 1 month. That’s how vocabulary gets into long-term memory.

Try it

Flip the card and decide: did you know it or not? Watch the card travel through the boxes.

How the card box works

1
Every card starts in box 1

Open the card box for a set – all its words start in the first box.

2
One round a day

Lenguvo only shows you the cards that are due today. Read the word, think of the answer or type it, and flip the card.

3
Got it? One box up

Cards you know move to the back and come up less often. Cards you don’t know go back to box 1 – and come up again tomorrow.

4
Three ticks – learned

In the last box every right answer earns a tick. After three ticks the word has stuck and leaves the box.

The boxes at a glance

The further back a card is, the longer the break until its next review.

Why the card box works so well

Review just before you forget

The gaps grow from one day to a month – exactly how memory keeps words best (spaced repetition).

Recall, don’t just read

You think of the answer yourself before you flip. This active recall anchors words far better than just looking at them.

Time for the hard words

What you already know rarely comes up. So you practise only a few minutes a day – and exactly the words that haven’t stuck yet.

For everyone learning vocabulary

Students

A short round every day instead of cramming before the test. Your dashboard shows how many cards are due today.

Parents

Your child learns with a method you may remember from your own school days – without writing and sorting paper cards.

Teachers

Assign a set – every student gets their own card box for it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Leitner system?▾

A learning system with several boxes, made popular by the science journalist Sebastian Leitner: cards you answer correctly move to the next box and are reviewed less often; cards you get wrong go back to the first box.

How often are cards reviewed?▾

Boxes 1 and 2 daily, box 3 every 3 days, box 4 weekly, box 5 every 14 days and the last box once a month. There’s one round per day.

Do I have to type the answer?▾

No, but you can. If you type it, you’ll see it next to the right answer after flipping – good for spelling. You decide yourself whether you knew it.

Does the card box cost anything?▾

No. The card box is free for every set – your own sets as well as the textbook and exam sets in the library.
