FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions from teachers and students about Lenguvo.
Students & classes
How do students join – and how do they sign in again later?+
Students don't need an email address. They join with the invite link or the join code and choose a name.
- The first time – Open the invite link or scan the QR code – or go to lenguvo.com, choose “Student” and enter the code. Then type your name.
- Signing in again later – On any device, use the link or code again and type exactly the same name. Progress and XP are back straight away.
What happens when students sign in again via a practice link?+
It depends on whether the student has their own account or joined as a guest (nickname only).
Students with their own account (email + password)
The student is simply taken to the class – they're already a member. Their progress and XP are fully kept.
Guest students (nickname only)
The system checks whether the nickname entered already exists in the class:
- Same name – The student is automatically reconnected to their previous guest account. Progress and XP are kept.
- !New name – A new guest account is created and the student joins as a new person. Previous progress stays saved under the old name.
What's the difference between guest students and registered students?+
Guest students join the class with just a nickname – no email address or password. That's quick and easy, but has one drawback: the session is tied to the browser. If the student switches devices or clears the browser cache, they can only restore their progress by entering exactly the same nickname again.
Registered students sign in with email and password. They can log in from any device, keep their progress permanently and can also join several classes.
Can students join several classes?+
Yes. Registered students can join as many classes as they like and see all learning sets on their dashboard. Their progress is saved separately for each class and learning set.
How do I remove a student from my class?+
In the class overview, there's an ✕ button next to each student. Clicking it removes the student from the class. The student's learning progress is kept in the database but is no longer visible in the class.
XP & learning progress
How do you earn XP?+
XP (experience points) show how diligently someone practises. There's one simple rule:
- 10 XP per correct answer – in every game mode, from flashcards to boss battle.
- No minus points – wrong answers give 0 XP, but points are never deducted.
- In class too – warm-ups started by the teacher also give XP.
XP is credited as soon as a practice round is finished. Anyone who stops a round halfway gets no points for that round.
Why didn't a round earn any XP?+
To keep the leaderboard fair, only rounds with real learning count. A round isn't counted if:
- !it was too fast – each word needs at least about 2 seconds.
- !the same set was just practised – there must be at least one minute between two rounds of the same set, a little more for large sets.
- !it wasn't finished – points are only saved at the end of the round.
What do XP, “learned words” and streak mean?+
XP – how much was practised
The XP from all learning sets is added up. The class leaderboard and the global leaderboard are based on it.
Learned words – how well the vocabulary sticks
Each word has a level from 0 to 3. A correct answer raises it by one, a wrong one lowers it by one. From level 3, a word counts as learned and is marked green in the word list. So unlike XP, this value shows what has really stuck.
Streak – how regularly someone practises
The streak counts the days in a row on which at least one practice round was finished. If a day is missed, it starts again at 1.
Learning sets & homework
How do I set homework for a learning set?+
In the class overview, there's a homework switch next to each learning set. Turn it on and choose a due date. Students see the date on their dashboard and get a notification.
Once a due date is set, the class overview shows a progress bar: how many students have fully learned the set and how many days are left until the deadline.
Can I use learning sets from the textbook directly?+
Yes. Lenguvo offers ready-made learning sets for many widely used textbooks (e.g. Green Line, Découvertes, À plus!, Access, Encuentros hoy and more). You can add these sets straight to your class – one by one or the whole book at once.
You'll find the textbook sets in the class overview under “Add set” or via the “Textbook” menu item.
What does “currently learned” (mastery) mean?+
Each word has a learning level from 0 to 3. A word counts as “learned” once it reaches level 3. The level goes up when a student answers the word correctly and down after mistakes.
- Level 0 – New, not practised yet
- Level 1 – Seen
- Level 2 – Almost learned
- Level 3 – Learned
Tests & data protection
How does a digital vocabulary test work?+
You create a test in the class overview and choose the learning set, number of questions and an optional time limit. The test only starts when you activate it – until then, students can't see it.
Once activated, a link appears on the student dashboard. After submission, you can view the results, grade them and – if you like – release them to the students.
The test can be ended and evaluated at any time, even if not all students have submitted yet.
Is Lenguvo GDPR-compliant?+
Yes. Lenguvo is operated in Germany, stores no data outside the EU and uses no advertising or third-party tracking services at all.
Students can join as a guest with a nickname – without giving an email address or any other personal data.
