Last summer, I decided to take a train journey across the countryside to visit my aunt who lives in a small village near the coast. The trip was supposed to take about three hours, and I had booked a window seat to enjoy the scenery. As the train left the station, I settled into my seat with a book and a sandwich, looking forward to a peaceful ride. The first part of the journey was smooth, with rolling green hills and fields of wildflowers passing by. I even spotted a few deer grazing near the tracks, which made the trip feel even more special. However, just as I was beginning to relax, the train suddenly slowed down and came to an unexpected stop in the middle of nowhere. After about twenty minutes, the conductor announced that there was a minor technical issue and that we would be delayed for a short while. Some passengers sighed in frustration, but I didn’t mind too much—I had nowhere urgent to be. While we waited, I struck up a conversation with an elderly woman sitting next to me. She told me stories about her own travels and how train journeys used to be much slower but more sociable in the past. Eventually, the train started moving again, and we arrived at our destination only half an hour later than planned. Despite the delay, I left the train feeling happy, having enjoyed both the beautiful views and the unexpected company.
